Could someone who has completed a successful install of TeX
either by
1.) getting the binaries and untarring ... OR
(tex complains: I can't find the default format file!)
2.) getting allthe source code and building from scratch
PLEASE send me a message so I can pick your brain?
I've spent too many hours trying at first the easy way by untarring
the binaries, and then by getting all the source, applying all the
patches (from the CTAN site), and installing by the numbers.
I have tried with cc ( chokes at x11.c), and with gcc (chokes at
x11.x also). Please help.
