ftp and security

I may have answered one of my own questions

if I put a usersname in ~ftp/etc/passwd with a home of
~ftp/usersftphome/username/
 and users:*:GID: in ~ftp/etc/group

this should limit the users to their respective ftpdir only
thus they would not even need to go to their home directory
because ftp home would override the normal home ??!

is it correct ?
