Q: single mode -> multiuser mode

Hello,
I have a problem with a DEC300, DU3.2.
We were running in single-mode sometime but
now we want to change to multiuser-mode.
How we reboot to multiuser mode?
we used the command
# init 3
we fine changes in /etc/inittab
is:3:initdefault:
but we still running in single mode.
