Hi Everyone,
The problem was solved after changing the permissions of passwd.
I the permission got changed to 700 after C2 installation which I'd
later changed to 755 (instead of 4711).
The solution was simple.
-rws--x--x 3 root bin 16384 Jul 25 03:48 /usr/bin/passwd
You can set with chmod 4711 passwd
