Hi All,
We are in the process of migrating a 2G dataset (not mirrored)
from an Alpha Server 1000 to an AlphaServer 2100. I need
to create a mirrored LSM volume on the 2100 from rz2 contained
in the Alpha Server 1000 with a minimum of down time. My
questions:
a) Can I take the disk out of the AlphaServer 1000 and place
it in the 2100 as say rz10, create a newlink in /etc/fdmns
pointing to rz10 and mount the original data?
b) If I want to create a mirrored volume from the original data,
does this mean that I can't use the original while the mirror'd
copy is being created (for a 12G mirror set this could be significant
time).
Yes... no matter how I do it, I will have back ups.
Another option that I am contemplating is to pull an initial tar file,
create the mirror'd volume from the tar file and then rdist changes only
right before going live. Does this make sense?
Many Thanks,
Greg
