NFS Mount problems

I have a 50 PC lan with 4 HP-9000's and 2 Alpha 2000's.

all of my clients are running WFW, except 3: 2 machines use Win95, and 1 is a
Power Mac.

The WFW machines can mount NFS drives from the DECs or the HP's at will using
FTP Onnet 2.0 software.

The Win95 and Mac can ONLY mount NFS drives from the HP's. If they mount an NFS
drive from my DECs, it will act like it is mounted, except 3 very bizarre things
happen:

        1) mac/win95 machine takes a LONG time to mount, and cannot run apps from
the NFS drive (path not found errors).

        2) On the DEC NFS server, I am running nfsd 128 (CPU loading is not a
problem) with roughly 10 million packets a day and no full sockets -- as soon as
the Win95/mac try to mount a DEC drive, I get literally hundreds of socket
overflows.

        3) all my WFW machines that have NFS mounts (avg 6 per PC) lose their NFS
mounts and NFS printer connections, UNTIL I dismount the offending DEC file
system from the Win95 and/or Mac client.

Win95 machines are also running FTP's Onnet 2.0, Mac is running Wollongong
Pathway.

I put the call into Dec on the 8, still haven't heard back -- talked to two
managers, had it escalated, getting tired of it.

Both alpha's are running DU 3.2C, tried a + in hosts.equiv, .rhosts, nothing
changed. Has anyone heard of a finicky implementation of pcnfsd or nfs v2.0
under DEC? Do I have a config file missing something? Over 40 PC's routinely
mount drives from the DEC's without mishap. File Systems are exported without
restrictions.
