My original query was about getting the default route set at boot time. My
thanks  to all who replied (listed below).
The 2 major points were:
1.  Use netsetup to configure a static route.
2.  Edit /etc/routes and add a line 'default 152.158.1.222'
Yes I should have remembered the first as I did it that way ages ago.  This
actually does what the second says to do so that is the solution I will use.
Three hours and I get 25 replies all saying one of the above - not bad folks.
This must have been an easy one.  I'll try to make my next question harder and
yes I had read the man pages just not the right one 'routes' although I don't
know how I missed it.
