Thanks to many who sent information on fast ethernet installation.
Basically, you should use firmware level 4.2 and at least OSF/1 V3.2C.
You can set the 10/100 and simplex/duplex specifications from the
ifconfig line.

A more detailed list of information is available at

        http://esl.cs.colorado.edu/FastEthernet/root.html

I included some links to various other information about fast ethernet
that I could find (including the F.E. consortium homepage). Btw, we
saw the following bandwidths using the TTCP package (two 2100's
directly attached).

                         Without contention With contention
                          (Unidirectional) (Bidirectional)
Full duplex 100 Mbit/s 54 35
Half duplex 100 Mbit/s 54 35
Full duplex 10 Mbit/s 8.6 8.4
Half duplex 10 Mbit/s 8.6 4.6

I think there must be parameters we can tweak to improve performance,
but we haven't done so yet. If anyone else discovers how to get more
than 54 mb/s, let me know & we'll try it out.
