Dear OSF Managers,

I am trying to connect a HP laserjet IIIP printer to the
parallel port of our DEC 2100 Server. I used the lprsetup program
for configuration which creates the following /etc/printcap file.

acrg|lp0:\
        :if=/usr/lbin/hplaserof:\
        :lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
        :lp=/dev/lp0:\
        :mx#0:\
        :of=/usr/lbin/hplaserof:\
        :pl#66:\
        :pw#80:\
        :rw:\
        :sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
        :xf=/usr/lbin/xf:

Within the lprsetup there is an option for the HPIIIP printer.
However on trying to print all jobs are queued with the following line
displayed by the lpstat -a command.

acrg:
printer is on device '/dev/lp0' speed -1
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        1 entry in spool area
Mon Jan 22 14:01:17 1996: waiting for acrg to become ready (offline ?)

All jobs sent to the printer remain queued. However if I send a PS
file directly to the printer. ie
cat <filname.ps> > /dev/lp0
the printer works fine.
Any suggestions on fixing the above would be very much appreciated.

                                                Thanks in advance.
                                                Paul
