Hooking modems to a terminal server?

I have a DECserver 700 attached to an Alpha 200 D-UNIX 3.2a. I am trying to
configure a port for dial-in modem access (eventually SLIP)and have tried
the following...

LOCAL>DEFINE PORT 2 ACCESS DYNAMIC AUTOBAUD DISABLE
LOCAL>DEFINE PORT 2 DSRLOGOUT DISABLE FLOW CONTROL XON
LOCAL>DEFINE PORT 2 INACTIVITY ENABLE MODEM ENABLE PASSWORD ENABLE
LOCAL>LOGOUT PORT 2

These instructions are for a DECSERVER 200 so I'm not sure if they will work
and what the dial-in user will see when they connect to a modem at the
Alpha's end (on their terminal emulator).

Do I need to DEFINE anything else? Do I need to 'tell' the Alpha anything
(ie configure it in some way) or will the terminal server handle everything?
Further to this type of connection do I need a SLIP 'server' running on the
Alpha to dial in using SLIP?

I have'nt got the DECSERVER reference manual as DIGITAL sell them separately
to the server and I don't think copies have made it to the UK yet as I seem
unable to find a supplier who knows about them!

Cheers

Paul
