Poor NFS Performance

Hello all,

I'm running Digital UNIX 3.2C on a DEC3000 Model 800S with about 20 PC's
connected via NFS (PC/TCP's 4.0). Usually there are only about 10 pc's
connected at any one time. NFS performance since 3.2C and the upgrade
to 4.0 PC/TCP has really been horrible. It seems to worsen the longer the
machine (DEC 3000) stays up. Reads seem ok, but when I try to write a
file - performance really gets abysmal. It takes between 15 and 20 seconds
to save for example a Windows system.ini file on a NFS mounted drive!

Are there any tools to help pinpoint where my problem lies or tools to
help tune NFS? Or has anyone else experienced the same sort of problems?

Thanks,
Sheila
