Hi all:

I originally wrote:
We have a number of VXT-2000 xterms here that download a boot image from
a remote machine. Each has 14Mb of memory. After boot, each has ~6Mb
of memory left free.

Our problem is that if folks use Netscape, XV, or some other program that
displays bitmapped images, the VXT-2000's eventually run out of memory
and crash. Apparently the VXT s/w is not reclaiming the memory used by
an image once it is closed. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there
a fix? We're running v 2.1 of the VXT s/w.

I received two replys with suggestions, both of which I might try:

we've had the same problem. we had to bump up the memory to 18M to make
them
usable by staff and even now and then.. if you don't already have an
infoserver, buy one, as that should free up a significant amount of
memory
in the vxt2k.

You should look into getting from the CSC VXT 2.1G. It still has some minor
memory leaks, but the worst of them are plugged in comparison with 2.1.

Thanks, Del and Jason! I think I will give 2.1G a try first, and if
that doesn't completely solve the problem, I'll probably get more memory
for at least one of the VXT-2000's to see how well that will mitigate
the problem.
Cheers,
