Hello,

My original question was :-

>I have inherited a sun sparc running sunOS 4.1.3 and I would like to
>know if it is possible to back it up to the TLZ07 tape drive on my DEC
>Alpha 3600, if so, how ?

Tom Barkanic <intrepid!tb_at_uunet.uu.net> had the solution:-

>This is the way we do it:
>rsh sun '/usr/etc/rdump 0fbsu vitran:/dev/rmt0h 64 226000 /dev/sd5g' >>>logfile

>Make sure the hostname that has the tapedrive is in the .rhosts of the >host you are backing up.

I also had to create a symbolic link from /etc/rmt to /usr/sbin/rmt on
the sun box to allow successful login to the alpha.

Many thanks also go to the following who had similar suggestions:-

Regards
Phil.
