nfsd problems (?) with DU 3.2c & SGIs

Greetings

We've recently moved up to DU 3.2c on our Alpha 3000/400S server, which
is part of an inhomogenous-architecture broadcast domain also containing
several SGI machines. Various DEC and SGI machines all share several
disks via NFS. After our upgrade, the main SGI diskserver, a Crimson,
developed pathogical behavior (ie., it won't stay up for more than a few
minutes) in the presense of our 3400. The trouble seems to stem from
nfsd. We've had difficulties between the SGI and DEC boxes in the past
that seemed tied to the NFS mounts between them (OSF/1 2.1 vs IRIX 5.2,
then), as well. But nothing like this. The crashes require nfs traffic
- the SGI will start to report "insense data from disk xxx" in its
SYSLOG, and panic.

Is anyone aware of NFS difficulties between IRIX 5.3 boxes and Digital
UNIX 3.2c boxes (in this case, on the same subnet)? Is there anything I
should know? The alpha sails through all of this without difficulty,
incidentally, except for RPC timeouts when the SGI's disks disappear.

Any help would be appreciated.
