Hi

I am using Digital UNIX 3.2d on a DEC7000 with 2 CPUs. I am using advfs
and lsm on some of the filesystem. Recently my system crashes very often
and part of the crash-data shows :

rap: invalid memory read access from kernel mode

    faulting virtual address: 0x0000000000439d8c
    pc of faulting instruction: 0xfffffc0000352b30
ra contents at time of fault: 0xfffffc0000352b30
sp contents at time of fault: 0xffffffffa1df7400

panic (cpu 0): kernel memory fault
syncing disks... "

I just received some patches for Digital UNIX 3.2d and one of the patch
PATCH ID: OSF360-013 seems to describe the problem is caused by ADVFS.
The installation instruction shows :

/usr/sys/BINARY/msfs_vfsops.o
CHECKSUM: 62215 28 RCS: 1.1.115.2 (msfs_vfsops.c)
/usr/sys/BINARY/bs_bitfile_sets.o
CHECKSUM: 50593 152 RCS: 1.1.47.2 (bs_bitfile_sets.c)
---------------------

PATCH ID: OSF360-013
Supersede OSF360-005

Installation Instructions: A kernel rebuild is required.

Other related Patch(s): OSF360-350062A

I am not sure how to apply the patch. Do I just copy the msfs_vfsops.o
and bs_bitfile_sets.o from the patch into the /usr/sys/BINARY directory
and rebuilt the kernel and then reboot ?

Thank you very much.

Have a nice day.

Regards
