Seeing a message about CDE & DU3.2C reminded me that someone at our site
is having a problem with this combination together with NIS.
I don't have CDE running on/from any of our central DU server systems, so
can't experiment for myself, so was wondering if anyone could shed any
light on what might be going on here:
The systems are set up to get user details (passwd & auto_home) from NIS
maps, with the passwd entries specified as "+username:" lines in
/etc/passwd.
When running the 'default' xdm such users can login without any problem
at all - when switching to CDE, the users just don't get past the login
screen. Sounds bizarre to me & as I say, I'd really like to be able to
do some experimentation of my own here, but simply don't have the
equipment, so will be more than grateful if anyone out there's got any
bright ideas on what could possibly be going on here.
Many thanks in advance,
Marlon
