Hi,

My question was " why did top suddenly stopped working?"

Knut Hellebo <Knut.Hellebo_at_nho.hydro.com> gave me the answer in a couple of
seconds:

- the "/dev/kmem: permission denied" message was due to top not running suid
  (why did it lose the sticky bit?)

- to make top run again, I just had to recompile it (indeed, I'm running
3.2c
  and it was compiled under 3.2)
