Greetings,
On a platform of an Alpha AXP 3000/300 running DU 3.0:
Using DMU, I loaded DU 3.2C ALPHA/BASE into a dmu area.
At the Configure option within dmu, I configured the area.
When it attempted to build a kernel, it gave the error:
Object file format error in: alpha_init.o: bad file magic number
I then mounted the /var/adm/dmu area onto a 3.2C AlphaServer 2100, and got
the same result. The error messages from the build, which followed the
above error, are appended. This copy is from the AXP 3000/300 DU 3.0
build, though the errors from the AlphaServer 2100 DU 3.2C build appeared
to be the same from a casual inspection.
I'd appreciate any help in understanding what either I or DEC are doing
wrong here. Both of us have been known to screw up from time to time.
