ZLXp-L2 cards and Digital UNIX

We have received a new AlphaStation with a ZLX video card
installed. After installing the operator system the Motif
display manager fails to start. Motif has been removed and
reinstalled without success.

The only message printed during the boot sequence, which may be
a clue to the problem is "Generic console support installed"

Are there any console/card configuration parameters required for
this video card?
