Hello all,
as usual the turnaround is indecently fast, got three replies
with almost unanimous consensus from:
Michael Matthews <matthewm_at_sgate.com>
Ray Bellis <Ray.Bellis_at_psy.ox.ac.uk>
Per Boussard <Per.Boussard_at_era-t.ericsson.se>
where along with disabling NIS with NIS_CONF="no" was followed
(stupid of me to forget) by editing /etc/svc.conf and removing 'yp'
from the maps. This is actually quite fundamental o/w programs still
try and look for NIS services, for example sendmail.
I also rebooted although Ray Bellis mentions that it is not
necessary and that I can set the stuff in /etc/rc.config with
"
BTW, you could probably it the other way without rebooting the system:
Run `/sbin/init.d/nis stop' and only then do `rcmgr set NIS_CONF no'.
It won't work if you do it the other way around.
"
Ciao,
Arrigo
