        Hi.

I am trying to use Digital's DE450-CA NIC in an Alpha 400 4/166.
I can see the card at the console level. I've set the console variable
ewa0_mode to bnc to use the BNC port on the card. The card is correctly
identified by UNIX after booting GENVMUNIX. I rebuild the kernel and reboot.

During reboot, I am getting a "no carrier" message regarding
the card and I am unable to ping another system on the same network.
The cable, T's, and terminaters are known to be good. The system
on the other end of the Thinwire is known to be configured correctly.

If I use a DE435 NIC in the same slot on the Alpha, I am able to
use the card without problem (booting GENVMUNIX, and rebuilding the kernel
of course).

The console firware has been updated using the V3.4 CD included
with DU 3.2D-2 CD. I am running DU 3.2D-2.

        Anybody have any ideas?
