Some combinations are explained in the HW manual of the machine. That's theory. I had this once, and it said something like 'cash faillure'. It was under warranty, so I called Dec. They replaced motherboard, no change. Replaced CPU daughterboard, no real change. They left. I swapped memory modules with an other box, it helped.... We have many hundred 600 and 300X alphas here and have seen similar problems. Its is probably a bad comms board or main board which can only be solved by DEC, I assume you have no warrenty. On thing to try though, connect a VT terminal using RS423 to the back of the system and set the alternate console DIP swicth to down. If you still get nothing then I'm afraid you'll have to reach deep in your pockets and DEC to get the main board or whatever replaced. __________________________________________________________________________ Paul Ottaway (Siemens Plessey Systems, Eurocontrol Maastricht UAC, NL 6191,RX Beek, NL) 100737,2577_at_compuserve.com (Private) paul.ottaway_at_mas.eurocontrol.be (work) ott_at_mas.eurocontrol.be (work) __________________________________________________________________________Received on Thu Apr 25 1996 - 16:47:11 NZST
