I had many replies: most pointed out that text will print with rp=text;
postscript requires rp=raw.
So, despite a message in the archives, I needed to set up two queues:
lp0|laser|hp4M:\
:af=/usr/adm/lpacct:\
:if=/usr/lbin/hplaser4psof:\
:ct=network:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
:lp=:\
:of=/usr/lbin/hplaser4psof:\
:rm=laser:\
:rp=raw:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
:sh:
lp1|text:\
:af=/usr/adm/lpacct:\
:ct=network:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
:lp=:\
:rm=laser:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
:sh:
This seems to work fine.
Incidental comments I received included:
- autosensing only works on VMS with a suitably long pause between different
types of job
- the VMS queue is a Multinet Stream queue; the rules are different for LPQ
queues
- the if and of parameters may not be effective for remote printers until
dUnix version 3 (I'm running 3.2C)
If anyone wants copies of the replies please email me.
