After talking to a DEC engineer, I finally understand the way the HSZ40
presents the device to OSF/1 (TZL).
After adding a TZ87 to my HSZ40 as UNIT P105, I rebuilt the kernel, hoping
that DU would "see" the device. Result: Invisible device
So, after reading the documentation (again) I noticed that the only devices
OSF will recognize automatically are thos with LUN 0. So I renamed the HSZ
unit to P300 hoping that would fix it. Result: Nada !
What is wrong ? I rebuilt the Kernel with doconfig -c MYSYSTEMNAME and
answered NO to the "edit configuration file?" prompt.
I could MAKEDEV tz11 anyway, but I'm just curious. Also, I noticed that in
my config file, there was an rz11 device (Instead of an tz11 device) and
that rz11 is NOT listed at boot time. Maybe that device was created by DEC
when they installed my machine....
TIA
