Are all versions of DEC Fortran, Linker compatible?

Hello All:

We are trying to link some user routines with a large commercial FEA code
called Ansys. The vendor claims that they require DEC Unix 3.2, which
we have. They also need DEC Fortran 3.8-711, but we have 3.3-35. I don't
know yet which version of the linker is required, but we have 3.11.

The problem is that any link with the vendor object code, even with no
user code included, results in an executable that does not run and
crashes.

My suspicion is that there is an incompatibility of some sort between
the object modules. Is this an unheard of bug?

Thank you,
