Hello,
I am sorry, if my request was not specific enough, but the real problem I had
with this machine, was not the fact, that it didn't boot anymore (I can repair
that), but the 10 to 15 beeps when powered up. I got different answers to my
question, some explaining how to recover from a failing boot device and some on
how to explain these beeps.
After I was unable to recover the OS further and closer investigations have
revealed, that it was actually the internal 1.07 GB HD that was beeping and
this seems to indicate, that the internal HD was fried out, too, since it does
not respond to any requests anymore. I was wrong with my assumption, that the
disk is OK, because the power up tests and specific device tests told me so.
Anyway, the manual also clearly says, that these tests do not indicate anything
about the status of a device.
