Thanks in advance for your comments ...

Configuration: AlphaServer 2100A running DEC Unix 3.2-d-2
               DEC DE435 Ethernet card
               + FDDI card
               + 2 RAID controllers
               + 1GB memory
               + VGA card
               + lots of disk

Just setting it up. This will be a production Oracle system, so
there are many subsets other than just base installed, including
C2 security, obsolete commands, etc.

Having problems getting the UTP network card to talk to anything.

ping won't ping. Can't telnet. Can't talk to my nameserver.

I did a re-install of Unix (just to be sure), netsetup,
and bindsetup.

Right beside the broken machine is an AlphaServer 2100 running DEC Unix 3.2c.
Different Ethernet card, no FDDI, no RAID, just using internal SCSI.
Same steps done for netsetup and bindsetup as above -- it works fine !
(using the same network cable to test the broken machine)

I'm confused and could use some ideas.

Feedback appreciated.
