Hello everyone,
I have been working on this problem all day and I am about to
break the printer BUT before I resort to violence I thought I might as for
some help...
Recently we purchased a HP jet direct card for one of our HP IIIsi
printers. I have configured it for TCP/IP printing and everything with
that works.
I can print either postscript, or text but I cannot get the printer to
switch between the protocols.
My printcap looks like this for the text queue and the ps queue:
The postscript queue:
lp|lp0|0|jet_direct:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
:lp=:\
:mx#0:\
:rm=hp3sis301:\
:rp=raw:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
The text queue:
lp|lp1|1|jet_direct2:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lp1err:\
:lp=:\
:mx#0:\
:rm=hp3sis301:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd1:\
If I switch the printer to default postscript, the postscript works. If I
switch the printer to default to PCL, the text works. BUT it will not
switch between PCL and Postscript.
HELP!!! I either need to know what I am missing, or find a utility that
will convert text into Postscript so that I may leave the printer in ps
mode and forget the PCL mode.
Suggestions? help?
P.S. The printer switches fine between the two modes for the banner pages
that it generates. (there is a option for banner pages in the printers
setup)
