disk formatting wrt LSM, striping

Hello people!

I've discovered LSM - wow! That's very cool. I am presently using LSM
striping to reduce an I/O bottleneck. It is fantastic. However, I've noticed
that a pretty good piece of the drives is not available:

/dev/vol/rootdg/vol01 8077899 1 7270108 0% /itch

This is 9% of the disk space gone...

Is it possible to reclaim some of this space? I've looked through 'Logical
Storage Manager' and read the man pages, but I haven't found any reference to
this... Is this the system claiming 5% for root plus other LSM junk when the
disks are formatted?

Thanks,
Rich
