HP Magneto-Optical drives anyone?

Anyone got any experience of HP Magneto-Optical drives on an Alpha with
DU3.2C/D?

There is a research group here who need to transfer large data files from
Helsinki (where the data is collected). At the collection end they have
some HP-UX machine and a C2250T MOD. Rather than match the Helsinki setup
exactly, the group here want to buy another Alpha and have the same model
MOD. So my questions are, a) has anyone used a C2250T MOD on an Alpha (we
will probably be using an AlphaStation 600 5/333), and b) if I write a
file onto the disk in Helsinki, will it be directly 'mountable' and
readable on the Alpha?

I have no experiences of using MOD's at all, so all your comments &
suggestions welcome. I'll summarise to the net.

Thanks in advance

Chris
