Please forgive me, as this is not really the place for this, but
TO ALL U.S. DDS2 (120m/4GB) "RDAT" TAPE USERS:
-We cannot continue to reliably backup our Alpha box because we cleverly
installed an RDAT on it, and RDAT tapes have NOT been available in Canada
so far in 1996 (there were no problems in 1995, when I installed the
unit). The unit has always run perfectly (an external Conner SCSI-2 DDS2
tape drive) - I simply have no more tapes. Many other people here are in
the same boat. Canada is, from one source, "#4 on the list of countries
to receive RDAT (DDS2 120m 4mm DAT) tapes from foreign suppliers",
starting this month or next. This doesn't sound encouraging. We needed
the tapes months ago, the orders we placed have been cancelled by the
Canadian resellers we normally deal with, unable to get the tapes in, etc.
So - Anyone in the U.S. able to provide the name of a reliable supplier we
could place orders with?
