accessing 3.5 diskette srive

Hi,

When I try to format a 3.5 floppy diskette I am getting the message:
  "no such device or address unable to open device"

I am using: scu -f /dev/rrz5c format density ED

When I do: file /dev/rrz*c I see that /dev/rrz5c exists but with no SCSI
address.

Question: Is this device present (the floppy is physically there), and how
should I attempt to access it. I know how to mount it.
