We have installed Vista Exceed on PC's running Windows 95 and have encountered
display problems when running a statistical package called SPSS on the Alpha
1000.

When running SPSS from a PC in X-Windows, if we go to the 'File' menu option
in the data window,
and select open ascii data, a window comes up which should have the usual
options to select filenames etc., but this has a fit and flashes and rotates
from clear label boxes to random shades of grey, as if it were trying to
refresh a 1000 times per second. The only way we stop this is to kill the
SPSS launched process.

Is this a problem with memory or the interaction with X windows? How do we
fix it ??!
