If you manage machines in a DMS environment, you might be interested in
the following fact...
If you plan to upgrade the DU operating system of a dataless client
in a DMS environment, the only option is to abandon the current DMS
environment and create a new one containing the new OS subsets. Unfortunately,
this means that any customizations on your dataless client are lost.
Although you can do an update installation on the DMS server, there is no
analog for a DMS client. I learned this directly from Digital tech support
today. This is bad news for those of us that manage DMS clusters of machines.
For every dataless client and operating system upgrade, you need to
go through the configuration process all over again. It would be nice if,
someday, Digital extended the update installation procedure to include DMS.
