Hi,
Not quite sure where the problem lies with this one. We are running Digital UNIX
v3.2, on AlphaServer 2100s. The database is Objectivity, which is running on "node_a",
with various application servers. The same application servers are running on "node_b",
and access the database via the network. To be precise Objectivity uses the NFS daemons.
On our development servers this configuration works fine, unfortunatly in
production the performance on "node_b" makes the system unusable. netstat and nfsstat do
not indicate any problems, ( or much usage ), and there are no hardware errors with the
network card, or the network. The problem seems to be with the database server, if you
point node_b into development the performance is fine.
Any ideas were to look next?
The only difference between production and development is the status of the nfs
daemons. When running ps the servers indicate they have been "niced", the priority has
also been changed to 4. Any ideas on what could cause this? Would this affect the
performance of the database?
Thanks in advance,
Justin
