Hello managers,

i asked:

The short summary is: Yes, this is normal behaviour...

The longer version:

When a new (d)xterm is started (with login-procedure), nevertheless
only the user-specific .login/.profile/.what_ever_the_shell_executes
will be executed and only the session-login (login(1) executes the
program (initgroup?) that sets the appropriate UID/GID-values etc.

There is a command 'newgrp', which i was told should do what i wanted
to be done, but it doesn't. First (for me) it starts a new shell,
which wastes another process, then it *replaces* the 'default'-group
with the given new one and 'forgets' completely about the old one...
(which definitely is not what i want...) Fritz Grimmer told me, that
for him it works in a different way. ???
