OPENGL window update problems

Hi,

We use an application (Pro/Engineer) that is capable of using the OPENGL
hardware
graphics acceleration offered by OPEN3D and the ZLXp-E3 series graphics
cards
specifically on DEC Alpha 250 4/266's.

If we enable the use of OPENGL by Pro/E, while getting the acceleration for
solid model shading,
unfortunately the window management suffers by way of continual repaints and
updates to
windows when any other window comes in front of a Pro/Engineer graphics
window. Also at times it appears to do two repaints when only one is
required.

The problem does not exist while operating under normal x_windows only mode.

Could anyone advise if the are any commands or x window/opengl - options
that can be set while using opengl to control the repainting of windows
independent of the application? Could this be something to do with
Backingstore or something like that?

The delays generated by these repaints makes it impossible to work with
large objects in Pro/E
while using opengl graphics option.

For reference the versions of DEC unix is V3.2c, Open3D version 3.2 and
Pro/E V15 (9537).
