1/Hello,

The version you need is V4.0 it will be on the July CD. Last time I checked
it will be shipping on July 12.

2/ The "Read This First" guide which came with the DU 4.0 distribution
specifically states on p.4 that you wait for the Q3 1996 Software
Product Library Package due in July before you install Open3D et al.
It also tells you to make sure that you have all the applications you
need before installing DU 4.0.

Open3D is not part of Digital Unix since it is only required for certain
graphics cards. I think that this includes those cards with 24-bit
planes. But since you can't run a system with such a graphics card
without this software, and since in any case the license is included with
such a card, I agree that it would make more sense to issue this software
with the standard DU distribution. I guess they just have trouble
getting it all out together on time.
of the installed graphics cards.

3/ The "READ ME FIRST" document that you received with UNIX 4.0 indicates
that Open3D will not be available for Digital UNIX 4.0 until The July
CD ships.

Thank you for the replies, while having read the READ ME FIRST we failed to
notice the OPEN3D on the list considering all the other things to think
about. As it turns out we can manage till we receive the LP distribution
hopefully in July. Just as well we subscribe to it otherwise we would have
to go without. It seems crazy that if you otherwise didn't need the LP
Considated distribution that you would have to pay maintenance for an
expensive set of CD's just to make sure your graphics card worked?????

I'm sure OPEN3D was on previously on the DEC UNIX CD wasn't it? I stand
corrected if I'm wrong.
