The first problem was (is) hardware based. It seems (DEC agrees) that
some of the ports (30-50%) on our DECconcentrators 900TH are bad working
on heavy load. THIS HAPPENS ON ALL OF OUR NEW 900TH's !!!
DEC doesn't have a workaround by now.
2)
To configure FDDI smply take: fddi_config ( ... so easy )

My original questions were:
1)
> I have problems with serveral Stations connected to a DEC HUB 900 TH (FDDI)
> The Alpha Stations are connected by UTP SAS PCI-Cards to the hub.
> What happens is:
> - the on-board LED (FDDI-Card) toggles between green and amber
> - the syslog messages look like
Jun 26 08:38:17 hostname vmunix: fta0: Ring initialized
Jun 26 08:38:19 hostname vmunix: fta0: Link Unavailable.
Jun 26 08:39:07 hostname vmunix: fta0: Link Available.
Jun 26 08:39:23 hostname vmunix: fta0: Ring initialized
Jun 26 08:39:25 hostname vmunix: fta0: Link Unavailable.
