Here is the original question:

| Yet another simple question. I have a host that I am attempting to
|get to print to an HP Laserjet 5SI with a Jet Direct card. I can get the
|printer to accept jobs from the server, but raw text is coming through
|with only line feeds, and not carriage returns. To make things even more
|unusual, the cover page comes through in fine order. Also, another host on
|the same network has no problem printing to the same printer.

Bob Sloane came up with the right answer.

Use:

I did get all sorts of answers 2 said that I needed to construct a filter
to take care of this. One even included a good one line perl script. Two
answeres said it was a bug. I also had a few suggestions about what to set
rp to (3Dtext, or test).
My question now is this: Why did one machine need the rp=text, and a
virtually identical machine not?
Thanks all for the timely response.
