[Q] Problem creating tty00

I have two systems - one is 2100 and other is 3000/900.
Both are running DU 3.2c; I have modems hooked up to both.
On 2100 I do:

# /sbin/mknod dig-test c 35 0
# file dig-test
dig-test: character special (35/0) ACE_SLU #0 terminal #0 modem_control of

On 3000/900 I do

# /sbin/mknod ttyd0 c 35 0
# file ttyd0
ttyd0: character special (35/0)

Any idea what's going on. The "higher" level problem is
that tip on 3000/900 barfs.

# tip modem0
/dev/ttyd0: No such device
link down

I've checked cable and modem. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks
