Adding DAT to Alpha

Does anyone have a step-by-step process for adding a 4mm DAT drive to an
Alpha 1000? I didn't have any physical problems installing the drive. I
just can't figure out how to get the alpha to recognize the drive.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
