How to access a SWXCR RAID controller on a 2100

 Dear DEC Alpha Gurus,

 We have a 2100 4/200 purchased second-hand that has an EISA three-channel
SWXCR RAID controller onboard. We just got the machine up under DU 4.0
and did all the RCU configuration stuff for the SWXCR as per the operating
system installation and release notes when we installed the OS.

We just want to use the SWXCR to hang a bunch of SCSI hard drives off the
machine and not in any real RAID scheme. Can this be done? When I hang
an external SCSI box with disks off the SWXCR port on the back of the 2100,
>SHOW DEV does not see the disks, but >SHOW CONFIG does clearly see the
SWXCR in slot 8. The configuration file used to build the kernel also
shows the controller as xcr0 at eisa0 slot 8.

Is there something basic that I'm missing, or do I just have to do something
else to get the SWXCR board working? Can the board be used to provide 3
normal SCSI channels (and if so, why does the board only supply one port to
the back of the machine)? What documentation (if any) am I missing? (...I'd
be glad to read a manual if I had one to read, we got the machine second-hand
without any hardware documentation on the SWXCR board...).

                            Thanks, Jay Ponder
