Dear OSF Managers,

My original question was:

> Is there an X Frontend for dbx like e.g. xxgdb for gdb?

In only a few hours I got tons of replies.

Thanks to Hellebo Knut, Gottfried W.A. Klein, Ian Piumarta,
Winfried Huber, Andrew Moar and to all those whose mails I have not
yet received.

The main messages can be summarized as follows:

- I know of FUSE but in addition to being more than a X frontend to dbx (it's
actually a case tool) it costs money.

- On our SINIX platform (SVR4) you find "dbxgui", the Motif-based GUI for
dbx. More information you will find:
                http://www.sni.de/public/mr/offers/sinix/cdsp11.htm

- You might try the GDB mode in Emacs.
It's not quite a graphical front end, but it takes a lot of the pain out of
typing all those endless "up" "down" "frame" and "print" commands.

- Try xdbx from ftp://ftp.x.org/R5contrib/xdbx2.1.tar.Z

Personal experience:

The versions of xdbx I could find were outdated and not adequate.
But as I had a closer look at xxgdb I found out that it can be easily
compiled as a frontend to xdbx too as it set up on the xdbx code.

This solution is basically what I would suggest.

Thanks again, Greetings, Rolf.
