upgrading firmware with bootp

Dear DU Managers,

I am having trouble upgrading firmware using bootp. I
followed the instructions exactly and the client and server systems
do not seem to communicate. Furthermore, as I read the DU4.0 docs,
it says bootp has been superceded by joind. I'm way confused!

We have one DEC 3000/700 that has already been upgraded to DU4
and want to use that to upgrade the firmware of an AlphaStation 400.

Does someone have step-by-step instructions for doing so?

my current /etc/bootptab file looks like:

surya:ht=1:ha=08002BE40F5B:bf=/tmp/as400_v5_6.exe:ip=128.119.70.33

Thanks!
Chester Liu
