Hello,

this parameter was discussed recently in conjunction with the installation
of the pidentd software, the advice being to set the value to zero or else
the kernel might panic.

I have two questions:
        
        - What is the purpose of this parameter and what sideeffects do I
          risk by setting the value to zero?

        - Is Digital aware of the problem and is there a patch replacing
          this workaround?
