disk fomatting and volume creation

Hi,

        I have two questions:

        - I'm using my bosses account to send this mail. Were do I sign
up for this list?

        - I'm setting up three new hard disks on my Alpha under OSF1 and
I don't know how to format or create volumes. I have read some if not
all of the MAN pages and it only confuses me a little more. I there a
how to for formatting and volume creation.
