eXcursion, problems with large GIS maps.

Hello,
Does anyone know of any possible problems with eXcursions 1.2c with
TCP/IP specifically?
We have 3 Alpha 3000's which were originally running Open VMS, but
have recently been migrated to Digital Unix 3.2d. This was done in order
to improve our ESRI support for the GIS platform.
We reinstalled eXcursions, using TCP/IP as the tranport and began to
have problems with being disconnected while trying to edit large maps.
When we were on OpenVMS we were using eXcursion's using the remote
window manager on the Alphas, with DECnet as the transport in
conjunction with Pathworks V5.1 and things ran well, aside from some
small complaints about performance.
Since reinstalling eXcursions using TCP/IP as the transport, in
conjunction with a Pathworks 5.1 provided IP stack, we have had problems
being disconnected while updateing large map files. I've tried bumping
up the counters in the pwtcp.ini and this hasn't helped much. I also
tried reverting back to DECnet, but have had trouble getting that to
work with Unix, even though it is installed on each of the alpha's. (I
get an error "Starup file not found",,even though I know its out
there,,its the same file,,dxsession, which TCP/IP uses, I think.)
Our PC's are generally, but not exclusively, DEC 466dx's with 24 meg
of memory. The window manager is still being run remotely, (The GIS guy
likes the workstation look and feel), and the windows piece seems to
work ok, until we get disconnected.
There have not been any significant changes in the network which
should have caused this type of problem, and the probem even shows up
when the machine is in the same room as the Alpha its connected to.
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this,,and I appreciate
any help, advice or experience you can offer.
      Sincerely,
                Rick Normandin
