Greetings Managers,
I have a small problem with a kernel configuration issue
which I hope you could shed some light on.
We have a Alphaserver Model 2100 4/200 and I upgraded the
firmware so that I could install DU V4.0. Now everything
went fine during the installation. Now at the point where it
installations finishes and asks to reboot the system, after the
reboot, I was asked a strange question which I was not asked
during my upgrade of another alphaserver 2100 4/200 system.
Sepcifcally:
"This system requires a driver for its graphics caed."
"Enter the device where the kit can be found (e.g. rz4c) or
<return> to cancel:"
At this point I looked around for any kind of graphics driver
and I did NOT have any, so pressed return and next thing I know
it configures itself as a "generic VGA driver" and my CDE environ-
ment is quite crappy actually (all faded windows).
I dug around to find any info. on the card, and I found a booklet
about ATI Mach64-GX vga graphics card, with two diskettes in it.
I think one of them is for NT and the other for maybe UNIX? I could
not mount either of the diskettes. So I am now totally confused.
. My understanding was the Kernel should have automatically detected
the driver and loaded it?
. IF one of the diskettes is indeed the driver how do I load it?
Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
cheers
Mohan
