I was able to get pop3d (from Clemson) running without any problems.
The qpopper distribution that I was using was 2.2 which (thanks to
John Valdes <j-valdes_at_uchicago.edu> for the information) defaults to
APOP support. This wasn't clear from the instructions that I was
looking at (old, from 2.1.4). Anyway, either pop server now works
just fine.
Thanks much,
Mike DuVernois
